Oh and PS: that "toadstool" looks like amanita muscaria, which is supposedly highly edible if prepared within the parameters of a specific protocol, as mentioned in this excellent article:

If you scroll to the bottom, you'll see a photo of a Japanese man from the Nagano Prefecture with a giant basket of amanita's. Not sure if yours there, is the correct variety, but it sure looks close!

Great post! I really enjoyed your writing style in combination with the colorful pictures.
I have yet to eat a Japanese curry that really blows me away. Most of the time I just either find it too starchy (if that is word)) or just too sweet for my taste. But that indian curry looks delicious.
